Ward Status at a Glance
Ward management is extremely challenging in the increasingly busy hospital environment. Aspects of this challenge include frequent queries from off-ward, the churn of new admissions, rapidly changing case-mix and a very stretched nursing team. How can the nurse manager stay sufficiently informed to optimise ward performance in terms of patient care, operating efficiency and staff management?
KEWS300 provides a single screen at the Central Station which gives ward-status-at-a-glance. Showing all patients’ vital sign observations, time to next observation (or overdue), staff assignments, early-warning score (if used) and the opportunity to call up any patient’s observation chart on-screen at any time. This allows frequent checks of each nurse’s workload in terms of patient acuity, enables instant answers to off-ward queries and alerts the ward manager to important changes in patient’s condition. Furthermore this allows case review and handover to be conducted away from the bedside when required.
